paper cut out stop-mo.

i love this kind of look for a stop-mo, but it will be not what i’ll end up with. the silhouettes are great but i really like the movement of the light behind the cloth, particularly in the underwater scene. i’m caught in the idea that the light will be slightly different in each frame. consistent but not. little gleams of light shining through.

and again.

stop-mo a go-go.

below is another stop-mo that uses photography and real life settings. i like the idea of using photography in some way, but i think it will be more like the setting and  human subject interacting with a drawn element rather than the human being ‘paper’. 🙂

more stop-mo.

funky lil stop-mo using paper cut out dolls. i like the idea of using cut out paper to create a stop-mo that blends with an actual real life photo.

another paper cut out stop-mo. this uses just silhouetted cut outs with just a simple coloured background. this is the first style i thought of when a stop-mo assignment was mentioned. i don’t like the texta coloured in effect, i’d prefer if i was making one to have normal cut out blacks.

below is a tribute to nintendo’s mario using paper cut outs. again i like the inclusion of real life human arm mixed with the other media. i’m thinking that my end result will be a mixture of real human and paper elements combined.

branding. in a 15 sec slot.

this particular assignment reminds me of like a ‘splash’ page that you’d find on websites that is quickly used to identify the product or entity when you first land there. here is some examples (in the first 30 secs of these vids) of what i mean, but not from a website; agideas instead.

sledgehammer.

one of the most celebrated filmclips of the 80s, peter gabriel’s, ‘sledgehammer’ was talked about, raved about, lovingly parodied and generally amazed all audiences when it first came out. an example of a highly complex stop-mo, the filmclip does include lots of different styles of stop-mo and is still today pretty wow. i remember there being an exclusive world-wide event that heralded the release of the flimclip. yes, we were fanatic in the 80s.

stop motion animation.

go.

this stop mo animation was really my first intro to stop frame that i can remember. it used to be played just after countdown on abc on a sunday night right before we switched to ytt to watch tina arena and the others dance up a storm. thought it would be good to start my research with a bit of nostalgia – and for the fact that i found these really mesmerising.
